Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Review

Article by Waseem

In the Command & Conquer series, a new game was released in a whole new direction, this game is based on todays real-world conflicts and issues. Generals was a fresh new game with a different horizon, and when we thought there was nothing more we could ask for, the expansion pack Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour come along, to remove any doubts remaining about the excellency of the game. Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour is a big one adding more units, more scenarios, and more fun that fans of the parent title will have a hard time not enjoying.

From a graphics and sount point of view, Generals Zero Hour remains true to Generals, with great texture, lighting, and effects. The are still the great explosion effects and the cool EMP effects. Sound is equally good with accurate realistic effects and a nice modern half rock, half symphonic background music.

When it comes to additions, there is a whole lot of new things in Generals Zero Hour, along with the campaign and skirmish section, we have a new Generals Challenge game mode to play with. The skirmish is the same as the previous game.

The campaigns are nice and very dramatic, which adds to the fun, each time you are faced with a more difficult task than the previous with more technology to aide you. With great cut scenes and vast opportunity to thwart your opponent, you will find it hard not to enjoy the 15 missions bundled with the game ( 5 apiece ). The campaigns also introduce new units to the game.

The game has a totally new set of teams, instead of the traditional GLA, USA, China. We have different Generals for each team, for example, China’s Tank General will give you very well-built veteran tanks but to balance the benefits, air and infantry units become more expensive.

Each team has been given a whole new set of advantages, for example, a tank drop of fully upgraded tanks in the corner of the map where your opponents supply stashes are gives you enough time to wreak havoc before the enemy units arrive to encounter your tanks.

But the most interesting part is Generals Challenge, in this you choose one general to battle all of the other generals, in the end you face a general that is not in the skirmish, or the campaigns, im not going to spoil the fun for you, see it for yourself. The Generals Challenges are very challenging, while everyone can beat it in easy, and most of us can do with medium. Beating the generals challenge mode in hard is the real deal.

When you play in multiplayer, you will understand the true fun of Zero Hour. Carefully choosing your general and your tactics to counter your opponent would result in some very easy victories, but the problem is that the other side has his/her own tactics, which gives the ever-lasting flavour to the game.

Overall, a lot of new things can be suggested, but very few things can be critisized about, the presentation of the game is ok with no problems whatsoever. The graphics are terrific and one of the best looking in its league, and the gameplay is terrific and awesome. The lasting appeal of the game is enough to keep you playing for years if you play online and want to be the ultimate player.
